Why have a Rites of Passage Program?

Overview
In the tradition of the African village, a rite of passage is the community's celebrated acknowledgment of their children ending one phase of life and being allowed to move to the next. We are having the Rites of Passage (EROP) program to ENSURE THE VIABILITY OF YOUTH.

Sessions Encourage:
  • Respect for oneself, family, culture, and community.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Awareness of African and African American history.
  • Multicultural awareness and an understanding of diversity.​
 
The sessions are designed to increase understanding of :
  • Friendships, relationships, commitment, family, and spiritual formation.
  • Goal setting and achievement techniques, fostering a sense of self-worth and a positive self image.
